Dear Karen:
Good Morning This is Teressa Dr. Barclay's nurse, I promised Faith that I would do some updates for you about her condition as we go along and I see Kay is doing some also, this is a bit unusual for us but since your so far away we are making an exception for Faith.
I do not know you except what Faith has told me about you but I will say that you have made a huge change in her life in the last year, we tried for 4 years before that to get her to be up and positive about herself and life in general but no luck and then you came along and she is a completely different person, so whatever your secret is keep doing it, it is working.
I noticed that you mentioned the picture in your last mail to Kay, Well I will tell you that she has not let go of it at all we had a big fight with her yesterday about it as she would not go to surgery without it and I finally gave in and pinned it to her gown on the inside in a sterile bag so she would do the operation. She said you had to be with her, and maybe rightly so for her surgery was rough to say the least. Her lungs are very weak from the accident and she has been taking oxygen everyday and taking some medication to help with the sedatives that she would be given when the operation came, but she still lost all respiratory function and crashed on the table twice yesterday, Everyone scrambled for a few minutes to revive her, and we did but you don't even begin to know how close we came to losing her and I believe that if it had not been for you and her love for you we would have. If you value her as a friend don't stop doing whatever it is you have been doing for without you I know we would have lost her yesterday. She knew the percentages going into this operation were not at all in her favor, but she chose to do it anyway and I just checked on her and spent a few minutes with her and she is starting to respond this morning, last night was very critical and she has made it through the hardest part but she is still not out of the woods yet so to speak as she is still on full life support and when she comes off of that will tell the real story. So Keep your love and prayers for her as she needs all she can get.
Her vital signs are good this morning and if all goes well the Doctor's will probably want to take her off life support sometime tomorrow. I have known Faith for 5 years and she went into this operation in the best shape we have ever seen her in but she still needs a lot of care and support to make this a positive experience. I have not talked to her yet as she has a breathing tube in her and all the other monitors and things necessary to keep her alive but the last thing she said going into surgery was that I was to tell you she will be back no matter what and join you in the Castle, what ever that means as she said you would know. The next 24 hours are very critical to her and her life so pray for her and give her all the love and support in your thoughts you can for she is going to need it. I have other rounds to make and will update you as necessary when there are changes.
